S2 Manufacturing is looking for a Design Engineer to assist with the design and development of our ever-growing line of stationary and mobile machinery. This role will work within a cross-functional team to design and implement changes to new and existing designs. This is an on-site position located at our company office, 15075 Aljon Ave. in Ottumwa, IA. The Design Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Design and detail purchased components, weldments, machining, and assembly prints using CAD software
  • Lead designs from initial concept thru the prototype phase and into production
  • Analyze production issues and create solutions
  • Create and maintain bill of materials (BOM)
  • Work with service personnel to determine root causes of component failures
  • Work with other team members in a cross-functional team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
  • 3 years’ experience working in Design Engineering
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to determine root cause of defective parts
  • Ability to maintain a high level of detail
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems and serviceability of parts
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Effectively manage time and resources to deliver designs in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Travel.
  • Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
