The Tax Preparer is responsible for assisting clients with their tax filings and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This role involves preparing and filing tax returns, offering tax-related advice, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Preparation:

    • Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
    • Review financial records, income statements, and expenditures to ensure accurate reporting.

  2. Client Interaction:

    • Gather necessary information and documents from clients to complete tax returns.
    • Provide guidance to clients on tax laws, deductions, and credits to minimize tax liability.

  3. Compliance and Accuracy:

    • Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
    • Verify calculations and ensure data entry accuracy to prevent errors.

  4. Record Maintenance:

    • Maintain client records and tax documents in an organized and confidential manner.
    • Update client information and maintain accurate filing systems.

  5. Research and Updates:

    • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
    • Research complex tax issues and provide solutions to clients.

  6. Customer Service:

    • Address client queries and concerns promptly.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and build strong client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation or a related role.
  • Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
    • Proficiency in tax preparation software and MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
