EXCAVATION FOREMAN

Layton Services is a family-owned and operated excavation & underground utilities contractor located in Newark, Ohio. We execute a wide range of sitework around Central Ohio from small-scale projects to large-scale multi-family development projects. Our services primarily include earthwork, site development (mass excavation, building pads, sub-grade prep) and underground utilities (water main, fire line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and detention systems.) Our office is in Newark, Ohio with a majority of our work in Columbus, Ohio.

* Typical range is $35/HR- $45/HR. *

Summary of Role: Supervises and coordinates daily job site operations including: safety, production, job costs, labor, some operating and all other duties as assigned. This person must be self-motivated, committed to safety, possess excellent leadership skills, and be able to immediately lead an excavation crew to success

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage construction projects from start to finish.
• Call-in inspections through the correct departments for your job location.
• Read/ understand civil plans and cut sheets.
• Coordinate job-site materials and trucking as needed.
• Provide quality leadership and equal opportunities for crew members to learn + further develop skills.
• Enforce job-site safety.
• Consult w/ Superintendents regarding crew members when necessary.
• Report all OSHA/ Company Violations to Superintendents immediately.
• Stay ahead of schedules + budgets provided.
• Always maintain a positive + productive job site.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma/ or equivalent.
• 3+ years of industry related work experience (construction/ sitework).
• Trenching + Excavating Certification (can obtain once hired).
• 30 Hour OSHA Certification (can obtain once hired).
• Basic computer knowledge (including email + construction software to manage employee time, job costs + resources).
• HeavyJob Construction Software experience preferred.
• A positive "Teamwork" mindset + the willingness to learn.
