Verdantas is seeking an Engineering Technician. This position will be located in our Petoskey, MI office.
Responsibilities:
- Produces construction drawings, maps, diagrams, and reports as needed using AutoCAD, ESRI, & MS Office software
- Construction staking of power utility transmission and distribution line projects
- Field inspection of power utility construction projects
- Performs field mapping services utilizing GPS devices on overhead & underground lines and equipment
- Performs field inventory of joint-use attachments to utility poles
- Preparation of construction drawings for substation, transmission, and distribution line projects
- Assistance with permitting for power utility construction projects
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required. Two-year associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Geography, GIS, or a related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position is preferred
- 0-5 years of experience
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with utility infrastructure and mapping systems including ESRI-based products
- Must be able to understand mapping terminology, survey, and GIS concepts
- Must be able to operate, maintain, and protect expensive survey equipment including GPS units, laser range finders, and electronic transits
- Must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal skills
- Must possess a Michigan Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
