Job Summary: The purpose of the Tooling Group Leader is to manage and direct the Tooling support personnel for present and future tooling projects related to production and the overall needs of the business.

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • 5 years' experience in supervision
  • 5 years' experience with automated manufacturing
  • Experience in developing and using systems
  • Experience with safety programs and preventative maintenance systems
  • Experience with 5S and attendance systems
  • Technical knowledge in Industrial Manufacturing, Plant Engineering and Tooling
  • Technical Degree in Tooling Manufacturing, or combination of education and related experience.
  • Proficient with EDM, Lathes, CNC Mills and surface grinders
  • Proficient with CadKey light or autocad
  • Proficient with Microsoft software
  • Proficient with Blue Print
  • Proficient in Automotive Press stamping or robotic assemblies
  • 1x1 Certification preferred or other problem solving methodology certification.
  • Proficient in job tracking, daily paperwork, excel and PowerPoint presentations

Major Accountabilities:

  • Manage Tooling Associates for all shifts and manage overtime requirements for the department
  • Oversee the maintenance and PM's of press dies
  • Maintains weld fixture tooling
  • Interfacing with Divisional Engineering projects and programs
  • Assesses and maintains the proper manning levels for disciplines within the department
  • Establishes and manages departmental budgets
  • Develops and manages the Capital Programs for the Tooling area
  • Coordinates essential training for departmental personnel to enhance and support job responsibilities
  • Oversee the rotation of production tasks
  • Support Production Coordinators to maximize production and product quality while minimizing downtime and scrap
  • Promote team involvement activities to improve systems used in all areas
  • Promote and work safely
  • Understand customer needs and work towards meeting and exceeding them
  • Actively support full implementation of the 5S using it to keep all areas clean, neat and properly maintained.
  • Conduct 1 x 1 investigations as required
  • Develop cost savings ideas for the department
  • involved in die designs, machine designs, and be part of the team that makes sure tools and machines coming into Hopkinsville, meet our standards, and our requirements
  • Actively involved in preventative and predicative maintenance to identify concerns, before they become problems, and to find solutions that make problems go away forever
  • Utilization of shop equipment to ensure we maintain spare parts inventory of anything we can make in house vs. purchased
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Manage overtime and projects under budget and on time.
  • Manage preventative maintenance program to keep re-occurring problems to a minimum
  • Understand customer needs and develop cost savings for the department

Working Conditions
20% office, 80% plant floor (PPE required)
