The Facilities Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations. The Facilities Manager will have direct reports of Custodians.


Job Responsibilities


  • Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in all phases of facilities management, including familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, monitoring, and control systems preferred

  • Assist with project oversight; assist with management of contractors and consultants, develop and track budget, and oversee quality assurance. Obtain quotes and coordinate contractors for the sites

  • Manage the day-to-day operations for building/facility maintenance, as well as equipment, and machinery, including HVAC, building lighting systems, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance

  • Directly manage staff, assign work, monitor activities, evaluate performance, and manage escalated/critical issues

  • Builds, mentors, develops and coaches a team of Facility Technicians.

  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills are a must

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction

  • Position typically involves moderate to heavy physical activity and exertion, including heavy lifting

  • Conduct safety reviews and, monitor building operations

  • Coordinate and facilitate with the building management team

  • Hours 7:30am - 4:30pm; Some evenings and weekends as needed

  • Any other duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and minimum (2) years of facilities experience preferred;

  • Agreement with the academic goals and philosophy of the charter school;

  • Knowledge of current educational research and issues;

  • Demonstrated effective collaboration and communication skills;

  • Demonstrated effective problem solving, planning and organizational skills;

  • Demonstrated effective training and presentation skills;

  • Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students, and the community;
