JOB SUMMARY
The shipping supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all shipping and receiving documents are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain production within quality standards
2. Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures
3. Complete all required safety training
4. Perform clean-ups, and maintain area cleanliness
5. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
6. Assist Plant Manager as needed
7. Work any overtime as needed
8. To work as a team with others in plant
9. Examines contents and compares with records, such as manifest, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments
10. Prepares documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials
11. Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes
12. Packs, seals, labels, and affixes postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter
13. Determines shipping methods for materials
14. Confers and corresponds with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications
15. Contacts carrier representative to made arrangements and tissue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
16. Experience in driving a forklift
17. Any and all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
18. Your attendance during scheduled work hours is an essential function of this position
C. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Balancing - maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching
2. Bending and stooping - bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, 8 hours per day, intermittently
3. Light carrying - physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently
4. Moderate carrying - physically transporting items weighing 15-44 pounds, 2 hours per day, intermittently
5. Heavy carrying - items weighing 45 pounds and over, occasionally
6. Fingering - picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm, 8 hours per day, intermittently
7. Grasping - applying pressure to an object with fingers, including thumb and palm, 8 hours per day, intermittently
8. Kneeling - bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees - periodically
9. Lifting - raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position, averaging 1-time per hour
10. Light lifting - raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently
11. Moderate lifting - raising objects 15-44 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, occasionally
12. Heavy lifting - raising objects 45 pounds and over from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, occasionally
E. MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Pushing - using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or upward, 2 hours per day, intermittently
2. Reaching above shoulder - extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction, occasionally
3. Repetitive motion - substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time, 8 hours per day, intermittently
4. Control precision - the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
5. Response orientation - the ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals. This includes the speed with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot, or other body part
6. Rate control - the ability to time movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene
7. Reaction time - the ability to quickly respond (with the hands, fingers, or feet) to a signal (sound, light, etc.) when it appears
8. Sitting – particularly for sustained periods of time, 4 hours per day, intermittently
9. Standing - 4 hours per day
10. Walking – moving about on foot, particularly for long distances, 8 hours per day, intermittently
F. VISUAL/HEARING ACUITY REQUIREMENTS
1. Visual requirement – employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading or visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, (including inspection) using measurements devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distance close to the eyes
2. Visual requirement – employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Will drive a forklift, occasionally
3. Visual Requirement – employee is required to see details at a distance
4. Hearing requirement - perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Employee must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discrimination of sounds
G. ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS
1. The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
2. The employee is subject to hazards. Such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
3. The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions. One of more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, or gases
4. The employee is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways, occasionally
