Position Summary

The Shipping Manager will be responsible for managing daily shipping and distribution operations. They will be responsible for making sure customer orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner. The Shipping Manager must be analytical, well-organized, and excel in communication. They must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems, as well as have a strong knowledge of shipping and receiving best practices. The Shipping Manager 2nd shift provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions

  • Use software to track, check, prioritize, and route customer orders.
  • Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notices, packing slips, bills of lading, etc.
  • Direct the flow of orders from preparation to shipment.
  • Inspect labels, barcodes, and other features of completed orders.
  • Supervise and lead subordinate team members (receiving clerks, order pickers, etc.)
  • Manage the shipping department budget.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, drivers, dispatch, and other managers to optimize processes.
  • Trains and develops new team members.
  • Accurately picks, packs, and loads customer orders onto delivery vehicles
  • Demonstrates company core values and best practices.
  • Exemplifies dedication to customer satisfaction with superior experience.
  • Assign work orders to shipping staff and ensure the paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Investigates items not found by picking staff and makes appropriate adjustments and reports.
  • Records daily attendance and ensures team members are compliant with proper PPE.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory that is shipped.
  • May prepare routine reports and file shipping records.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, crane, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink wrap machine.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, objectives and continuous quality improvement objectives.
  • Adheres to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be able to communicate in English with regard to the essential functions of the position.

Required Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years of prior warehouse experience.
  • Two years of prior management experience preferred but not required
  • Prior forklift experience preferred required.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 50 lbs.
  • Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
  • Requires the ability to stand and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noise, and fumes.
