Medical Assistant/Allergy Technician Job Summary:

As a vital part of the Clinical Care Team, the Allergy Technician provides direct patient care, for optimal patient health outcomes by performing a combination of clinical/administrative tasks while delivering outstanding customer service and professionalism to patients and other ENTAS employees in both our Allergy and our ENT clinics.


As a vital part of the Clinical Care team the Medical Assistant/Allergy Technicians performs allergy testing, prepares individualized allergy extract Rx’s and treatment plans for patients. Performs a wide range of patient education and provides immunotherapy injections subcutaneously (SCIT) and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT).


Medical Assistant/Allergy Technician Benefits:

Medical Assistant/Allergy Technician Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs and interprets allergy testing.
  • Prepares individualized allergy extract Rx for patient based off allergy test results.
  • Educate patients about diagnoses, prognoses, treatments, and allergy tests.
  • Documents patient medical history.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  • Administers allergen immunotherapy via subcutaneous injections or sublingual drops to treat immune conditions.
  • Responsible for preparing extracts for patients following the USP 797 guidelines.
  • Performs pulmonary function testing.
  • Ensures and maintains a safe and clinically clean workspace, maintaining OSHO standards.
  • Multitasking and teamwork. Assists coworkers in confirming vials are prepared properly and treatment plans are appropriate.
  • SLIT training for drops and/or tablets for patients that take allergy medication home.
  • Uses Allergy EMR and Epic EMR systems.
  • Schedules patients for allergy tests and trainings
  • Assists patients with insurance benefits and questions.
  • Clean up after injection or testing and disposal of all medical equipment properly.
  • Communicates with providers regarding treatment plans for their patients.
  • Handles emergency situations; anaphylaxis, vasovagal incidents, CPR, breathing treatment and medication administration as appropriate.

Medial Assistant/Allergy Technician Job Requirements

  • Previous medical assisting experience is strongly preferred, though not required.
  • Registration (RMA), Certification (CMA/MA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Required
  • Experience using electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Must understand sterile and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to multi-task and function efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must work well independently and with a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are a must
