As an Underwriting Trainee, you will be joining the Middle Market Underwriting team on an accelerated underwriting path. You will bring your insurance background and/or prior educational experience to assist the Underwriters in analyzing and underwriting their book of business through day-to-day servicing and processing of new and renewal business accounts. You will quickly learn and gain an understanding of what it takes to create a diverse and profitable book of business to move into the next level of Underwriting.

The core responsibilities for this role are…

  • Under the direction of an Underwriter, processes quotes, binders and endorsements
  • Follows up with broker on outstanding subjectivities and inspection contact information
  • Review, finalize and issue drafted policies
  • Set up account files and pre-underwriter renewal business
  • Processes BORs
  • Maintains Underwriting files by ensuring that all relevant documents are included and adhering to naming conventions
  • Processes non-renewals and cancellation letters
  • Assists with special projects

Demonstrated Experience for success in this role…

  • Bachelor’s degree (Risk Management or similar) or equivalent industry experience through internships or P&C work exposure required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
