Summary

ABC LOL Child Care Center is seeking a full-time Licensed preschool teacher to have fun while inspiring our preschool age children to reach their goals in life If you have at least two year's experience in this field, college-level education and are enthusiastic, with a positive attitude then we would love to meet you.

Duties

  • Develop weekly plans and implement age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
  • Provide a safe, clean, and developmentally-appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
  • Perform ongoing developmental evaluations of children, develop lesson plans, and follow curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child.
  • Routinely plan, evaluate, and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the children.
  • Treat all children with respect and dignity, make them feel safe and secure; provide opportunities for learning through play, decision-making, and social interaction with their peers.
  • Provide responsive care to all children by adapting routines and plans to the interests and needs of the group.
  • Actively work to support full inclusion of children with diverse abilities and disabilities, as well as those from all socio-economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
  • Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships and experience clear communication with teaching staff.
  • Schedule and lead parent teacher conferences two times per year.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and timely client and agency records; Completes daily meal and attendance records.
  • Report evidence of suspected abuse/neglect to program director and proper authorities.
  • Ensure that the assistant teacher is kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, i.e. lesson plans, policies procedures, training received.
  • Report all staffing and classroom concerns to program director in a timely manner.


Requirements

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
  • Climb up and down stairs
  • Have mobility required to ensure the safety of the children
  • Work with children on the floor
  • Work outdoors in any variety of weather
  • Perform light duty cleaning
Requirements:
  • Birth through preschool or Birth through 3rd grade Vermont Teaching License
  • Minimum of an Bachelors degree in early childhood education, child development, human services, or related field, or Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • Experience and knowledge in child development and early childhood education services
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, maintain confidentiality, and be flexible.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to understand and manage the complexities of a large preschool program
  • Ability to access a situation and act quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with parents, children, and staff
  • Commitment to be actively engaged in a continuing process of professional development
  • Obtain CPR and first aid certification within three months of employment
  • Sufficient transportation to meet job requirements
