Purpose: The HSE Coordinator supports facility activity by ensuring ongoing compliance to all Vesuvius HSE standards, OSHA, EPA, and other Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as providing critical resources to maintain the HSE management system as required.

Key Result Areas:

  • Understand regulatory requirements and company standards and apply them to facility operations to ensure compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and review HSE plans and procedures, as well as ensure proper document control.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: assist team in identifying hazards, assessing risks, and identifying relevant controls to manage and reduce these risks to ALARP.
  • Ensure all required HSE inspections are performed and documented, including: waste; environmental; stormwater; fire extinguishers, emergency lights and other fire response equipment; eye wash stations; ladders; cranes; and housekeeping, and that corrective actions are completed for identified deficiencies.
  • Aid in the performance of incident investigations and ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
  • Review and analyze safety concerns, audit actions, SIOs, and other sources of information to ensure effective containment and corrective actions are implemented as quickly as possible.
  • Assist in development and implementation of a thorough HSE training program for all employees.
  • Create visual management tools to highlight HSE activity and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Lead regular audits and assessments to ensure required HSE procedures and processes meet standards and are properly followed by the workforce.
  • Aid in management of the facility’s LTT program, including training, auditing, and maintaining procedures.
  • Assist in leading, training, and developing necessary HSE teams and committees that can assist in advancing HSE compliance and be prepared in event of an emergency.
  • Compile data and assist in preparation of required HSE reports, including: Tier II; TRI; Air Permit Evaluation; Synthetic Minor Fee Air Emissions/Air Emission Inventory; Stormwater Discharge; Coolant and Refrigeration Emissions; Quarterly Environmental and Sustainability; Quarterly Air Emission Deviation; and Monthly Air Data.
  • Assist in waste management activities, including preparation of waste profiles and manifests, and ensuring timely shipments of waste in accordance with the facility’s waste generator status.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of SDS management software.
  • Develop and manage SharePoint-based system of managing and responding to product stewardship inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Assist in efforts to develop and implement an environmental management system that adheres to ISO14001 standards and passes regular external audits to these standards.
  • Develop and implement contractor management system that aligns with Vesuvius and ISO14001 standards.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year technical degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience
  • Formal OSHA, RCRA, GHS, DOT Training

Experience: 2+ years similar HSE experience within a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge: Must be familiar with OSHA and EPA regulations, as well as possess the ability to identify HSE risks and develop best management practices.

Problem Solving & Complexity: Problem-solving will be a day-to-day activity required by the occupant of this position. Disseminates data into trend recognition and statistical information utilized for performance measures and improvements.
