American Hardwood Industries (AHI) in West Point, Virginia is looking to add a Sawyer to their team. AHI is one of the leading producers of Appalachian and Northern hardwood lumber, manufacturing more than 110 million board feet annually and shipping to customers throughout the world.

Sawyer Pay & Benefits:

  • Full time
  • Overtime Hours & Pay
  • Full Plan of Benefits including health, dental, vision, life, LTD, STD, 401k, paid vacation and paid holidays
  • Minimum to anticipated maximum pay range: $17-25.

Sawyer General Job Description

To manufacture green hardwood lumber from logs using state of the art carriages and scanning equipment. Determine optimum opening face to maximize value and fulfill cutting order and production requirements. Ensure the quality of the lumber is held to our company standards.

Sawyer Requirements:

  • Ability to determine and execute the optimum cutting pattern for breaking down logs
  • To perform minor maintenance (change saw blades, lubricate equipment, broken chain, broken hoses, crossed up lumber, or jam ups).
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt
  • Good communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Sawyer Education & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of NHLA lumber grades
  • Two years of hardwood grade sawing experience
