FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-Time

SCHEDULE: Mon -Thurs - 9 hours (in-office)/Friday - 4 hours (remote)

FLSA STATUS: Salary, Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: A Joint Interest Accountant has a working knowledge of joint interest and the ability to communicate effectively. In addition, the Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely completion of projects in various areas of Joint Interest Accounting including the day-to-day functions below:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze and prepare monthly and quarterly close transactions,
  • Analyze AFE expenditures for accuracy and completeness,
  • Perform analytics and account reconciliations,
  • Investigate joint interest billing discrepancies,
  • Calculation of overhead in accordance with the JOA,
  • Ensure transactional compliance with SOX, JOAs, and COPAS and guidelines,
  • Knowledge of monthly operated joint interest billing process,
  • Analyze JIB variances and provide explanations with supporting documentation,
  • Create payout calculations quarterly,
  • Knowledge and execution of production handling agreements,
  • Review and process non-operated joint interest billings via Energy link,
  • Interpret purchase and sales agreements,
  • Analyze boat, helicopter, and fuel logs for proper billing,
  • Effectively communicate with internal departments and external partners,
  • Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities at the direction of the Joint Interest Accounting Supervisor & Director, Expenditure Accounting
  • Continuously work to enhance and improve processes while adhering to GAAP and internal control policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related discipline
  • 3+ years of joint interest accounting experience at an exploration and production company
  • EnergyLink experience
  • Advanced Excel Knowledge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • P2 BOLO (including DAV/financial statement interface), P2 AFE
  • DocVue
  • Open Invoice
  • Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) knowledge
  • COPAS Accounting Procedure knowledge
  • M&A

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
