Job Description

As a senior engineering manager of the Money Management backend engineering team, you will lead your team in making Cash App the most valuable and effortless place to build financial health through building delightful and differentiated end-to-end savings, investing and planning experiences for our customers. Working alongside our product managers and designers, you'll be engaged in driving the team’s vision and roadmap. The products that you build with your team will create significant impact at scale and will fundamentally change how customers manage their money.

You will:

  • Partner closely with product, design, engineering, operations and business leads to evolve your team’s vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers’ needs

  • Build a world-class team by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing engineers and managers, and shaping the team to scale with the needs of the business

  • Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across the organization and company

  • Foster ownership, inclusiveness, accountability, pragmatism, and urgency in the team

  • Hold your teammates—and yourself—to high engineering standards through cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar

Qualifications

You have:

  • 10+ years of software development or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years managing other engineering managers/leads

  • 4+ years experience managing and growing engineers

  • A history of healthy collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them

  • Strong self-motivation to learn and grow

  • A knack for creating readable, well-crafted, maintainable code

  • Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $251,600 - USD $377,400
Zone B: USD $251,600 - USD $377,400
Zone C: USD $251,600 - USD $377,400
Zone D: USD $251,600 - USD $377,400
