Summary

Hunger Mountain Children's Center is seeking a full time early childhood educator. The Preschool Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a mixed age classroom of young children, ages3-5. Using observation and assessment tools, the Preschool Teacher documents each child's growth and learning in relation to his or her developmental level and the Vermont Early Learning Standards. The Preschool Teacher works in collaboration with a co-teacher and reports to the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have an Early Childhood Apprenticeship Certificate, Associates Degree and/or qualify as a Teacher or Teacher Associate through VT licensing regulations. We are seeking a responsible, motivated, energetic, caring individual who is passionate about young children, and can provide a high quality early learning experience. This is a full-time year round position with competitive pay and generous leave time.

Duties

  • Plan and implement a developmentally-appropriate curriculum with co-teacher
  • Maintain classroom environment that promotes curiosity, hands-on exploration, problem solving, creativity, and is a model for positive social relationships
  • Conduct observations and assessments on a regular basis
  • Ensure that child care routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with good child development principles
  • Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision
  • Operate the classroom in compliance with child care licensing standards and HMCC policies
  • Communicate and build relationships with families
  • Maintain confidentiality of child, staff and family information at all times
  • Team player willing to collaborate with staff, families and community resource partners


Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The candidate must meet child care licensing requirements
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Must pass background check and fingerprinting


Nice To Haves

  • Applicants holding, or are eligible to hold, a Vermont Teaching License with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education is preferred, but not required
