Job Description

As a Geotechnical Construction Materials Project Manager at Bunnell Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will assume a pivotal role in our organization's dedication to excellence within our Columbia, South Carolina office. This individual will be responsible for generating fees through the management and development of existing and new client relationships. You will complete project proposals and develop estimated costs and budgets along with other project deliverables. This role will also require the individual to review project specifications and inspection requirements on his/her assigned project(s) and to review daily inspection reports. All reports are reviewed, signed, and provided as a deliverable to the client and project distribution on time. You will be required to make occasional site visits to review construction activities, review inspector activities, develop relationships with contractors and owners, and provide engineering support when required.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering, Construction Management or similar degree.
  • 1-4 years of experience in construction project management.
  • Needs to clearly communicate and work effectively with clients and other department staff.
  • Must have a commitment to deadlines, budgets, and teamwork with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.
  • Knowledge of project management, understanding of project baseline documentation, costs, and schedules.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency in MS Office applications (Word & Excel).
  • Must be self-motivated, able to efficiently work independently while completing scheduled tasks, and/or lead a project team.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, BLE leadership, clients, local, state and federal authorities of all levels.

Daily Functions and Duties

  • Develop and implement project management plans.
  • Develop and follow project budget(s).
  • Develop and maintain project schedule(s).
  • Organize and coordinate project team.
  • Oversees manpower planning.
  • Manage personnel to ensure work is being performed most efficiently.
  • Assist and/or prepare in preparation of proposals and contracts.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly project billings and accounts receivable.
  • Assure quality control procedures are maintained during projects.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Able to manage multiple ongoing projects, scheduling, and evaluation or review of project budgets.
  • Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing field staff to sample, test, and collect data and/or document on-site activities at various client sites.
  • Evaluate routine laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
  • Prepares calculation packages, technical reports, letters, memoranda reports, and correspondence regarding the direction of assigned projects.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Project Manager in a geotechnical consulting firm.
