TRM Innovative Hearth Products is the buyout of several companies that have been merged throughout the years including but not limited to Fireplace Manufacturers Inc., (FMI), and Lennox Industries Hearth Division. The aggregate company included rollups of Marco; Superior Fireplace, which began in the 1930s; stove and insert companies including Country Stoves, established in 1977. FMI, a subsidiary of Desa, rolled up Design Dynamics in vented and vent-free logs in the early 2003 timeframe. Subsequently, the management team from the FMI segment of Desa acquired the assets of their division in 2008. TRM Innovative Heart Products is a growing manufacturing company that manufactures fireplace inserts. Job Description:We are looking for a highly capable Project Engineer to join our business. Project Engineers oversee technical and engineering projects to assure a high level of accuracy and quality. They work with teams to translate requirements into implementable tasks with practical timelines. They also collaborate with clients to find and solve any problems in the project plans and budgeting. The Project Engineer must demonstrate and support TRM IHP Core Values.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for all activities involving sustaining/engineering design, factory support and compliance with applicable safety, agency, and regulatory requirements in production. Effectively generates, conveys, and analyzes product documentation. The successful candidate must be familiar with a variety of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures and be able to propose solutions to support achieving corporate design, manufacturing, and quality objectives. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A broad scope of creativity and a collaborative approach to work is expected. Knowledge of lean processes is a plus. Other duties and knowledge desired include:
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring assigned technical and engineering projects.
  • Translating client needs and organizing practical terms into required timelines to be met by the team.
  • Maintaining cleanliness to ensure health and safety standards on-site.
  • Resolving any problems with the team, plans and budget to ensure that the project flows smoothly.
  • Identifying potential problems with the project, leading the team into developing solutions and ensuring that they are implemented.
  • Hosting frequent meetings with teams to build morale and inform them of their daily activities.
  • Ensuring that all legal requirements are met throughout the project.
  • Working with third-party agencies to certify new and revised products to applicable industry appliance standards.
  • Assisting in developing all aspects of projects from proposals to completion.
  • Working safely and efficiently on engineering works and CAPEX projects.
  • Completing all aspects of engineering project budgets, monitoring, documentation and drawings.
  • Leading multi-discipline engineering design and delivery across widespread disciplines to agreed scope and within budget.
  • Leading all project related commercial activities and procurement including equipment and services.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
  • Hearth or other appliance design experience.
  • CREO/Pro E/Solid Works experience.
  • Cost reduction experience.
  • Analyze performance data and facilitate corrective action.
  • Conduct root cause and corrective action analysis.
  • Support cross functional value-stream teams.
  • Reliability testing and analysis.
  • Knowledge and application of quality processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Project management experience is desirable.
Education/Experience:
  • This position requires a matriculated degree in engineering: Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical is STRONGLY preferred; but Industrial or Manufacturing degrees may also be considered. 3 years of direct product engineering experience in a lean manufacturing environment. Equivalent experience and achievements may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor's degree or 5 or more years of related experience in a manufacturing environment in a related role Preferred.
Language Ability:

Position requires fluency in English. Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, ANSI standards, and governmental regulations. Ability to document test data. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply algebraic expressions to data.

Computer Skills:

Word processing, Spreadsheets, Creo/Windchill (preferred), Solid Works, MRP software (SAP preferred), E-mail, Database software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May lead and direct the work of others but no direct reports.
