JOB SUMMARY

Eva’s Village is a non-profit organization helping individuals struggling with hunger, homelessness, poverty and addition. Through a variety of social services and clinical programs we empower our clients to live healthy, independent, financially secure lives.

We are looking for a skilled Major Gifts and Legacy Officer to join our team. The Major Gifts and Legacy Officer, reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Communications, will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and stewarding relationships with prospective major gift donors and planned giving donors.

The Major Gifts Officer will work closely and collaboratively with the CEO as well as board members and other external stakeholders to achieve a $1-$1.5 million major gift/planned gift fundraising goal per year while enhancing Eva’s reputation as an exceptional nonprofit organization.

JOB DUTIES

The Major Gifts & Legacy Officer serves as the primary relationship manager for the Major Donor portfolio and is responsible for developing and implementing successful donor strategies for individuals with a high capacity to give.

Portfolio Growth

The Major Gifts & Legacy Officer is responsible for growing the current Major Donor portfolio by identifying new donors and increasing gifts of existing donors.

  • Identify current low- to mid-level donors who have the capacity to give at Major Donor levels ($5,000+) by evaluating giving patterns and conducting donor wealth screens.
  • Qualify new donors for addition to the Major Gift Portfolio
  • Identify new Major Donor prospects outside of the current donor database by screening donors for similar organizations, networking, engaging with Board members’ and CEO’s contacts, and more.
  • Elevate giving levels of current Major Donors by developing relationships with donors, identifying their giving preferences, and presenting them with new opportunities to give.

Donor Relationships & Communication

The Major Gifts & Legacy Officer will establish and foster relationships with all donors within the portfolio.

  • Conduct ongoing communication with portfolio to continue to cultivate, solicit and steward the relationships via meetings, written communication, phone calls and emails.
  • Develop customized strategies and timelines for each donor.
  • Collaborate with Special Events Manager in engaging and stewarding donors through event-related opportunities; actively participates on Event Committees as appropriate.
  • Secure five- and six-figure major gifts as part of a seven-figure annual revenue goal.
  • Monitor and maintain regular communication to Senior Director of Development & Communications on progress towards goals; proposes new tools and strategies for goal achievement and growth in private fundraising.

Planned Giving

  • With Senior Director of Development & Communications, create and implement a strategy for Planned Giving.
  • Work with Digital Media Specialist to convey Planned Giving opportunities via the website, social media and email marketing.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required

EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven track record in successfully cultivating and stewarding new and existing major donors and soliciting five and six-figure gifts.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth through private fundraising and meeting a seven-figure annual revenue goal.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with minimum 3 years of experience in major gift solicitation.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and public presentation skills.
  • Flexible schedule to work/attend evening and weekend events as needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Raisers Edge.
  • Ability to analyze and understand basic financial reports, goal progress reports, etc.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and with a variety of personalities.
