Elementary Teaching Assistant

Summary
Maitland Montessori School seeks an enthusiastic person as an assistant in a 1st-3rd grade classroom of 18 children, who are independent learners, with a credentialed lead teacher. The assistant will help guide the children's learning. As an accredited school with an on-site Montessori teacher education program, an opportunity exists for the assistant to gain a full Montessori teaching credential. If educating the children of the future interests you, please come and join a well established staff who are committed to quality education and are supported by the school administrators and parents.
Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Duties
Work cooperatively with the lead teacher and administrators
Support the quality of the education offered to the class within the Montessori philosophy
Monitor and record the children's progress
Plan lessons with the lead teacher
Maintain the classroom materials and environment
Conference and share information with parents
Assist and make suggestions with all day-to-day running of the classroom
Requirements
Minimum education requirement: high school diploma, with a willingness to continue learning
Good communication skills
Enthusiastic, kind, caring,
Adaptable, energetic, motivated
Nice To Haves
College degree (need not be in education)
A second language
