Title: Human Resources Generalist

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Location: Elmhurst, IL (on-site)

Direct Reports: No

Summary of Position:

The Human Resources Generalist will support the day-to-day operations of the HR department within a unionized environment. The HR Generalist provides support in the following functional areas: total rewards, including compensation, benefits, and recognition programs, HRIS data input/integrity and reporting, full cycle recruitment, including employee onboarding, health and safety program support, labor and employee relations support. Provides administrative support for employee offboarding and to Senior Management team. The HR Generalist will also help develop and implement HR policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist managers and team members with the interpretation and administration of established policies and procedures for both union and non-union employees.

• Act as a liaison between management and union representatives ensuring compliance with labor contracts and labor laws.

• Receive, manage and troubleshoot employee requests relevant to HRIS system data changes/updates to maintain data integrity.

• Provide support for employee payroll, benefits, and wellness programs.

• Provide administrative support for all employee movements. Draft general forms, letters, and reports as necessary.

• Answer employee queries about HR-related issues (i.e.: FMLA, Worker’s Comp, LOA, etc.)

• Provide support for internal and external full-cycle recruitment efforts, including posting job ads, resume screening, conducting interviews, making job offers and coordinating all pre-employment screenings.

• Help organize and manage new employee orientation, on-boarding, and training programs.

• Provide support to create/revise company policies and HR SOP's and HR projects.

• Provide support for the annual talent management cycle.

• Provide administrative support to Senior Management team with taking meeting notes and assisting with administrative support such as creating presentations, company correspondence or announcements, maintaining org charts, etc.

• Offer suggestions and ideas for employee engagement events and initiatives.

• Generate HR and ad hoc reports to analyze HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

• In conjunction with HR Manager, provide administration support on disability and worker’s compensation claim related return to work or modified work processes to ensure compliance and successful transitions.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. In lieu of degree, HR Certification: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

• Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices and compliance.

• 2 - 4 years of HR experience, preferably as a Generalist.

• Proficient in MS Suite and HRIS software preferably ADP Workforce Now.

• Familiarity with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.

• Exceptional customer service, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, orally and in writing.

• Ability to work with all levels of employees and departments.

• Ability to maintain and preserve strict confidentiality.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in fast paced environment.

• Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects.
