Overview:

The Security Deputy Lead plays a critical role in helping STR achieve its business objectives as part of the Security Group Leadership team. This position encompasses customer engagement, business development support, strategic planning, subject matter expertise, portfolio management, and specialized knowledge. Reporting directly to the VP Security, the Security Deputy Lead ensures alignment with the Security Group's organizational objectives and strategic initiatives. We are seeking a qualified individual who can drive customer engagement, contribute to strategic and security infrastructure planning, and develop a highly skilled security workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Security Engagement:

  • Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with potential and current senior customer security leadership, serving as a key liaison between internal security teams and program management to address complex security challenges effectively.
  • Actively participate in customer meetings to contribute to problem identification, mitigation, and project planning.
  • Apply deep understanding of STR strategy and strong customer relationships to obtain customer approval to expand our classified infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with key security stakeholders across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive marketing presentation that highlights our security capabilities.
  • Provide tailored security solutions that meet specific customer needs, enhancing satisfaction and retention.

Business Development Support:

  • Collaborate with business development leads to conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decision making with comprehensive security solutions.
  • Assist in integrating security considerations into business development pitches and plans.
  • Analyze Return on Investment (ROI) costs related to security and optimize resource allocation.
  • Coordinate security staff assignments with relevant technical directors.
  • Conduct regular meetings with business development leads and potential customers to understand their needs and tailor security solutions accordingly.

Strategic Planning

  • Stay informed about STR infrastructure growth, available resources in the SCI and SAP communities, and adapt security strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and execute plans for SCI infrastructure growth and sustainment.
  • Lead teams to deliver high quality work and develop thought leadership.
  • Partner with the VP Security in group leadership activities and identify best practices.
  • Assist with SAP/SCI portfolio architecture, integrating insights from Collateral, Special Access Programs (SAPs) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Formulate and develop STR security policies to ensure compliance and alignment with STR Security strategic objectives, shaping the direction and framework of the Security Group.
  • Assist in budget and staff planning.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives as assigned by the VP Security.

Workforce Development:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive education and training program for security staff to ensure that they are knowledgeable, skilled, and prepared to adeptly address business development and technical program security challenges.
  • Ensure training programs cover current best practices, compliance requirements, and modern security tools.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, adjusting as needed to keep the team adept at handling evolving security challenges.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the security team.
  • Participate in industry conferences and networking events to stay updated on security trends and innovations.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to security staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Assist the VP Security with development and implementation of a security-specific mentorship program to ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning within the security team.

Specialized Expertise:

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to shape and communicate strategic vision.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of the Defense Acquisition Process and ability to provide guidance to the business development leads and Program Managers.
  • In-depth knowledge of security information systems, infrastructure, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of senior management or executive level experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks and respond to priorities.
  • Transparent, direct, and self-disciplined.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to remain focused under pressure and deliver against timelines.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Strong team development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
