Hickam Communities is seeking a dependable and motivated groundskeeper to join our team The groundskeeper will perform maintenance and cleaning functions in the community, including resident homes, community centers or office space, grounds, parks, and parking lots. Provide cleaning and groundskeeping and other non-trade-specific work around the property.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grounds Maintenance:
    • Pick up trash and debris throughout property.
    • Empty trash receptacles at playgrounds, office facilities, dog parks/stations, etc.
    • Sweep, blow off and/or shovel parking lots, sidewalks and entries.
    • Pressure washing of sidewalks and community buildings.
    • Keep storm drains free of debris.
    • Clean fence lines weekly.
    • Provide weekly inspections and reporting of deficiencies such as roads, lighting, safety hazards, and abandoned/vacant homes.
    • Operate power blowers or use brooms to clean roof tops, sidewalks and driveways of leaves and debris. Ensure work-site clean up.
    • May include watering grass, plants, trees, trim shrubs and low hanging trees up to 12 feet.
    • May include basic maintenance or repair including fence repair.
    • May be responsible for monthly playground inspection reporting and minor repairs (if necessary).
    • May be responsible for lawn mowing, weeding or weed eating.
  • Community & Residence Maintenance:
    • Deliver tools, equipment and parts through property when required.
    • Assist with community event set up and tear down.
    • Debris removal.
    • Perform pressure washing of occupied and vacant homes.
    • Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrows or hand trucks; stack materials for storage or binning; collect refuse and salvageable materials.
    • Transport equipment, furnishings and appliances to job sites.
    • Dig, fill and tamp earth excavations; level ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete; clean culverts and ditches; cut tree and brush; operate power tools.
    • Remove floor tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic floor tile and plywood. Remove damaged drywall.
    • May be responsible for cleaning or prepping for maintenance or COM work.
  • General Responsibilities:
    • Complete and submit all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
    • When required, update work order status including time, materials and notes on mobile devices provided in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Maintain vehicle and vehicle inventory as prescribed.
    • Work cooperatively and conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times when in contact with consumers, staff, subcontractors, monitors and the general public. Deal with customers and others in a diplomatic and positive manner.


Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Entry level knowledge of basic maintenance required
  • Must have a current vehicle license in good standing and meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to understand basic instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with clients, visitors and other organization staff; and respond to basic questions
