Position Overview:
The Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on gas and diesel-powered heavy, light, and medium-duty vehicles. This role involves preventive maintenance, diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues, and ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on gas and diesel-powered heavy, light, and medium-duty vehicles.
  • Change tires and analyze electronics on vehicles.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Complete all assignments as directed.
  • Conduct purchases in accordance with Purchase Order Requirements for purchases over $100.00, including obtaining approval from the Supervisor and including the proper vehicle/unit number on each purchase order.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including maintenance reports and work orders.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic understanding of computer operations and data entry.
  • Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Calm and rational problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Ability to back a 40’ trailer into tight areas.
  • Ability to qualify for ASE Brake certification.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a medium and heavy service equipment mechanic.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Mechanic certificate.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain high ethical standards.
