A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN URBAN PLANNER PROJECT MANAGER
As an urban planner who manages projects, you are vital to enhancing and building FHI Studio's Planning Studio. You focus on projects throughout the northeast that include comprehensive plans, master plans, housing plans, zoning, and design guidelines. The plans you develop and contribute to are innovative, engaging, and focused on implementation. Your attention to detail and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in planning and design foster an engaging and collaborative environment for various stakeholders. You use your strong time management skills while leading project teams, providing excellent client service, and conducting business development. You lead all aspects of projects including leading the development of proposals, attending interviews, and interfacing with clients throughout the course of a project. You also present FHI Studio's work to the client and the community in public and virtual forums.
URBAN PLANNER PROJECT MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in urban planning, urban design, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in urban design and planning
- Experience gathering, analyzing, and sharing various forms of data and insight
- Experience in working to understand communities of concern
- Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, SketchUp, and Google Analytics, preferred
- Experience working in GIS or community-based mapping tools
- Ability to communicate effectively in a second language is a plus (Spanish preferably)
