IT Administrator

The IT Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. They install hardware and software, participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of their organization, and ensure the systems are secure and operating efficiently. The IT Administrator also actively resolves problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.
System Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, hardware, and servers.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with company guidelines or SOP (standard operating procedure).
Network Administration:
- Ensure the integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
- Maintain network services, including VPN, firewalls, routers, and switches.
Security Management:
- Implement security protocols to protect IT infrastructure.
- Monitor security systems, analyze security breaches, and implement incident responses.
- Conduct regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise.
- Assist with on-site and remote troubleshooting and provide end-user support.
System Improvement:
- Continuously analyze current processes, technologies, and vendors to identify areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with IT team members to develop and implement IT strategies and initiatives.
Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation as it relates to server and network topology, equipment, and configuration(s).
- Document IT policies and procedures.
Compliance and Licensing:
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and conduct audits to ensure the organization is following the necessary regulations and guidelines.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Project Management:
- Manage IT projects, including system upgrades and migrations.
- Collaborate with vendors and IT personnel for implementations and rollouts.
Training and Development:
- Train users on new software and hardware.
- Provide training and guidance to junior IT staff.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience Proven experience as an IT Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of network management, cloud systems, and data storage.
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms like Tebra, Luma, Microsoft Suite 365, and Modio
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, MCSE) are a plus.
