Senior Clinical Office Assistant/Medical Billing

Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
The Senior Office Assistant has knowledge in medical billing, coding, and patient registration for the Patient Support Team within the Clinical Services Division. This position will serve as a liaison between the patients, medical providers, finance department, and insurance companies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review medical billing and coding errors
- Registration (check patients in and out)
- Complete insurance verification and eligibility
- Collect co-payments
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Participate in revenue cycle improvements
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years of medical billing experience, education and /or experience in a medical or public health department setting. Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to project positive image to staff and maintain professional in interactions with public, client, agency personnel and other community professionals
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing terminology, methods, procedures and equipment
- Considerable knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance payor regulations, processes and procedures
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher
- Ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities
- Must have excellent customer service and verbal as well as written communication skills
