Position Responsibilities:
- Communicating with physicians and patients to coordinate and schedule surgeries and pre-operative testing
- Identifying at-risk patients and ordering appropriate pre-operative testing
- Documentation of medical records and pre-operative testing results
- Creating provider blocks and monitoring the surgery schedule for patient placement, cancellations, and efficient use of time/equipment
- Educating patients and their caregivers regarding specific care related to surgery as instructed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist
- Assembling appropriate paperwork for surgical charts
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- An Illinois RN license is required
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record
- Previous scheduling experience and orthopedic knowledge are strongly preferred
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively and accurately, detail-oriented
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
