Haynes Materials is currently seeking a full-time Quarry Manager to work in our Deep River, CT quarry. Under the general direction of the Manager of Operations, the Quarry Manager provides overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of the individual quarry assigned with the objective of maximizing production, safety, efficiency, and profitability as well as day-to-day leadership and management of the crew.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities

· Manage quarry staff to ensure the safe operation of the quarry while achieving production goals, objectives and policies

· Schedule staff based on the needs of the business/production

· Manage and approve weekly payroll

· Follows processes developed by senior management to operate in the most efficient manner possible

· Perform plant inspections to anticipate maintenance, safety or other production issues

· Expected to act accordingly upon plant breakdown; performing repairs, delegating tasks

· Coordinates drilling and blasting with current blasting company to ensure a constant inventory of raw material

· Work and communicate with sales staff to ensure correct inventory levels of products that are needed

· Responsible for full cycle management of repairs and maintenance for quarry

· Ensure all employees abide by MSHA/DEEP/EPA and Company rules and policies

· Maintain inventory of quarry equipment parts

· Act as an extension of the Safety and Human Resources department for MSHA, OSHA, DEEP and EPA during quarry inspections

· Ensure continuous communication between garage manager and upper management for all Quarry operations and repairs accordingly

· Responsible to make sure that all aspects of the quarry fall in compliance with rules and regulations of MSHA, DEEP, and EPA

· Provides mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees to foster an environment that focuses on forward thinking, safety and company improvements

Skills and Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED

· Minimum 5 years of construction or quarry supervisor experience

· Basic electrical skillset

· Mechanically inclined

· Knowledge of ASTM/DOT standards of aggregates

· Solid commitment to customer and/or employee service

· Detail oriented, accuracy in record keeping and reporting

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

· Laser focus attention to detail with the discipline to ensure accurate and quality work

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

· Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff

· Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

· Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, other business systems as necessary)

· Valid driver’s license with good driving record for insurability
