The Transfer Counselor reports to the Director of Admissions. Responsible for executing a comprehensive recruitment and outreach program to meet institutional recruitment goals for transfer, online and Center for Adult Student Education (CASE) students. Responsibilities include cultivating, developing and maintaining relationships with two-year colleges, local businesses and other potential recruitment sources.

QUALIFICATIONSLEVEL OF EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Desired: Master’s Degree preferred

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/BEHAVIORS:

Required: Must have demonstrated public relations skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, attention to detail, strong organization and problem solving abilities are required. Extensive travel with some evening, night and weekend work required.

TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum 2 years Admissions experience or equivalent

Desired: Prior experience with articulation agreements and transfer credit evaluation

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid driver’s license

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works closely with Director of Admissions with regard to recruitment activities for transfer and online students and working adults, and graduate students as needed.
  2. Evaluates transcripts for all transfer and online students, and determines transfer of credit. Distributes evaluation forms to students and faculty/program advisors.
  3. Assists in interviewing transfer, online and CASE students.
  1. Counsels students about program options, alternative approaches to earning credit, financial aid and registration.
  2. Acts as a liaison with all Divisions to maintain up-to-date information regarding curriculum, program requirements and transferability of credits.
  3. Arranges to plan and execute Open Houses, Information Sessions, Guidance Counselors’ Receptions, and other recruitment events.
  4. Establishes and maintains visibility with two-year colleges as well as corporations, hospitals, health care facilities and other potential recruitment sites.
  5. Makes admissions and scholarship recommendations to the Director of Admissions.
  6. Updates and maintains prospect/applicant databases as necessary.
  7. Prepares completed folders of enrolled transfer, online and CASE students to be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office.
  8. Works closely with appropriate administrative and program offices to support the recruitment and admissions processes.
  9. Performs all duties and responsibilities with the intent of supporting enrollment and enhancing the image of the college.
  10. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and agency rules and regulations including but not limited to FERPA and the Clery Act.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
