Job DescriptionJob Description

This position operates plastics extruder(s) and related downstream equipment in a foam plastics manufacturing environment. The duties include following the production schedule and making sure all supplies needed for production are available. The Extruder Operator will be a team member who has the ability to lead and follow.

Responsibilities:

  • Machine set up and operation
    • Perform a cold start of the extruder
    • Properly shut down the extruder
    • Proper setup of downstream equipment specific to the product
  • Maintain product specifications by performing quality checks and making adjustments to correct any issues.
  • Continuous monitoring of extruder temperature profile, blenders, and downstream equipment.
  • Calculate and adjust for the proper line speed and set the proper heat profile.
  • Verify packaging and pack out are in compliance with product specs.
  • Complete daily reports.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience with plastic extrusion, required.
  • LDPE foam extrusion is a plus.
  • CAD experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of calipers, tape measures, and pipe tape.
  • Good math and mechanical aptitude.
