Role: Staff Accountant

Reporting to: Director and VP of Finance

The staff accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the company. This includes assisting with accounts payable and receivable, overseeing vendor payments, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. Also, the staff accountant will play an integral role in month-end closing by reviewing financial results and partnering with the restaurant operators on performance.

 

Primary Job Duties:

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Ensure all financial transactions have been entered, approved and posted prior to month-end.
  • Review month-end financial statements for accuracy.
  • Perform various banking responsibilities including wire & ACH payments and creation of manual checks.
  • Collaborate with our 3rd party accounting firm on inquiries and requests.
  • Enter journal entries for accruals, reclassifications, and allocations across the locations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Partner with the operations team with financial review and analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets.

Job Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting/finance. Restaurant, retail, or hospitality industry experience a plus
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Understanding of applicable laws and regulations
  • General ledger and other accounting systems experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be willing to work from our office headquarters in Miami, Florida
