Reports to: Underwriter Manager

Position Summary:

The Underwriter's primary responsibility is to fully evaluate, underwrite and determine credit worthiness of submitted larger commercial business loan requests with a focus on utilizing government guarantee enhancements. Job duties are varied with a focus on reviewing/analyzing all financial information with development of a comprehensive, yet succinct, recommendation memo.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Paralegal certification may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate with bank personnel of all levels
• Strong leadership, analytical, organization, problem solving skills
• High energy multi-tasker with excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently, establish priorities, delegate and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Quick thinker with ability to make strong and supportable decisions under pressure
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
• Proficient in use of basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook
• Basic Office Machine Operation Skills, Printers, Scanners, Copiers, Fax, postage machine, etc.
