The Retail Associate provides excellent customer service, maintains a clean, safe, and pleasant work environment, and implements the Company’s mission and goals while working in an accurate and efficient manner to reduce waste, improve sales and reduce expenses.

What You Will Do:

  • Opening and closing the store.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized retail environment.
  • Greeting customers and offering assistance.
  • Assisting with stock management, arranging merchandise on shelves and displays.
  • Accurately perform the job functions of a retail cashier.
  • Assist in the visual presentation of the store as directed, including window displays, rack signing, sizing, and accessorizing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to The Role:

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Read and write English proficiently or have enrolled in and are on track to successfully complete an approved ESL program.
  • Computer literate and basic Math skills.
  • Available to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period.

Goodwill San Francisco Bay’s guiding principle is that everybody deserves a second chance—and everyone deserves access to training, job opportunities, and support to succeed in our economy. We currently operate 34 retail stores, 33 donation sites, and two warehouse outlets across six Bay Area counties. This includes San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, Solano, and Contra Costa. Many of our career centers are embedded in our retail stores and are managed by career advisors who help people get jobs either directly at Goodwill or through our employer network.

Goodwill SF Bay relies on a combination of material and financial donations to support employment services including individualized career support, skill building, industry certification programs, and support services such as transportation, clothing vouchers, referrals to mental health, housing and more. Donating and shopping at Goodwill is good for our planet and the local environment and helps Goodwill SF Bay divert >35 million of pounds from local landfills every year.
