Campus Custodian Job Description


Key goals: Ensure that all facilities are clean, safe, well-kept and organized, to create the best possible environment for the successful operations of all school and after-school programs.

Key Responsibilities: The factors that define and truly differentiate this position from all other positions; what absolute, unique things should this position fulfill that no other does:

  • Ensure daily cleanliness tasks are completed professionally and in a timely manner
  • Ensure cleaning supply closets are adequately stocked in an efficient manner for use by other users of the facilities
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the Operations Manager to ensure that the facilities remain clean, safe, well-kept and organized, and to report if there are any issues or concerns
  • Assist with site security, ensuring doors are properly closed and secured, and that there are no hazardous situations, such as trip hazards, wet floors, or potential chemical or toxic products not securely stored
  • Take out garbage when necessary
  • Responsible for security the building at the end of the day, ensuring that all necessary lights are off and doors are locked
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

  • Facilities are clean, safe, well-kept and organized
  • Campus environment is conducive for classroom learning and indoor and outdoor activities

  • Be flexible and observant of the facilities cleanliness requirements, safety issues and opportunities for improvement of the buildings and the grounds
  • Be familiar with basic equipment required to complete tasks at hand
  • Have an 'eye' for cleanliness and functionality of building and grounds
  • be budget-conscious, always seeking effective and efficient means to complete tasks
  • Be a good communicator and dedicated to the task
  • Take ownership of campus cleanliness, safety, appearance and functionality

Qualifications: Experience as a custodian is preferred; the position reports to the Operations Manager; full-time 40-hrs weekly; FLSA nonexempt; schedule 10:00am - 6:00pm daily (Monday through Friday). Applicant needs to have an understanding that Urban Youth Impact is primarily a Faith-Based Organization.



All applicants will be required to complete a Level-2 background check.
