Job Summary (Overall Purpose of the Position)

The Process Analyst supports the Manager of Reliability Compliance with the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures related to specific groups of NERC Reliability Standards. This role also assists with administering the Midwest Energy project and change management methodology. This role will work cross-departmentally to ensure adherence to procedures and adoption of new processes and will therefore need to be proficient in administering both the technical and people side of change. This role must solve complex problems, in multiple areas of specialization, with general supervision and is expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence as they gain and demonstrate this knowledge. Incumbent must effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.

Job Duties - Responsibilities – Tasks

Compliance

  • Provide interpretation for various reliability standards, requirements, and guidelines. Ensure that all recurring compliance activities, including maintenance and training, are executed in a timely fashion consistent with applicable standards.
  • Perform individual work assignments in support of compliance with NERC Reliability Standards, including operations, planning, and CIP. This may include, but is not limited to, documentation review, documentation editing, technical writing, regularly recurring internal checks/reviews, and coordinating as needed with subject matter experts throughout the company.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of NERC compliance controls, regulatory matters, and business applications.
  • Assist in monitoring of compliance status of applicable NERC Reliability Standards. These may include spot checks, self-certifications, triennial audits, and assisting compliance violation investigations.
  • Provide ongoing strategic planning and support, keeping stakeholders updated on current NERC Reliability Standards, revisions, and interpretations.

Project Management

  • Offer best practices, practical approaches, and guidance to Project Sponsors, Leads, and Core Team members regarding project and change management activities.
  • Participate in the ongoing refinement of project and change management practices within the organization.
  • Serve as liaison between business and technical workgroups.
  • Help define and document processes in accordance with standard company format.
  • Enforce processes and procedures and follow defined escalation path when needed.
  • Serve as an additional resource to support and/or lead projects as needed to achieve success.
  • Identify and collaborate with respective department(s) to resolve inconsistencies and gaps in processes.
  • Ensure documents including written procedures, evidence, and workflows are updated according to defined schedule.
  • Oversee routine project and change management activities including monthly scorecard compilation, post-go-live evaluation, lessons learned collection, and document archiving for projects listed on the corporate Business Plan.

General

  • Develop and maintain internal and external working relationships for maximum effectiveness in serving Midwest Energy executive staff, board members, employees, and customers. Keep management informed of issues that might impact the executive staff and/or board members.
  • Promote safe working habits; follow and enforce all safety rules and regulations of Midwest Energy, Inc.; lead by example in safety compliance and take corrective action on safety violations, defective equipment, and any other practice that may adversely affect a safe working environment.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 – 5 years relevant work experience
  • Will accept commensurate combination of experience and education in lieu of requirement above
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a leadership role (professional, educational, or volunteer)
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing various software programs to achieve efficiencies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: business process analysis, utility operations, training development/facilitation, policy administration, auditing practices, regulatory compliance, project management
  • Technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: transmission system engineering, planning, design and operations, software testing and implementation
  • Familiar with project management, workflow mapping, and document management software

  • Possess strong Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills; experience with Visio and Access is helpful
