Chicago Cornea Consultants, LTD is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As a leading ophthalmology practice, we are committed to providing exceptional eye care services to our patients. As an ophthalmic technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions. Your attention to detail and ability to provide compassionate patient care will contribute to our goal of delivering the highest standard of quality care.

This position is for a full-time experienced Ophthalmic Technician who can demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide the appropriate care to our patients. Looking for experience including medical assisting, knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and medications, refracting, tonometry, pachymetry, A-Scan, visual fields, laser/LASIK surgery etc…

Candidate should have the ability to multi-task and work well with others. Accuracy is a must. Occasional travel between our offices is necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic tests, including visual acuity measurements, tonometry, and visual field testing
  • Assist ophthalmologists in procedures, such as refractometry and fluorescein angiography
  • Document patient medical history and update electronic medical records
  • Prepare patients for examinations, explaining procedures and answering any questions they may have
  • Administer eye drops and medications as ordered by ophthalmologists
  • Assist with contact lens fittings and provide patient education on contact lens care
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment, ensuring their proper functioning

Requirements

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) highly preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician in a medical setting
  • Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and common eye diseases
  • Proficiency in performing various ophthalmic tests and procedures, such as visual acuity measurements and tonometry
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively explain procedures to patients
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document patient information
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals
