Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our surgical team At Quakertown Veterinary Clinic, our mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for our patients and an exceptional level of service for the owners who love them. We are open 24/7 and provide both emergency care and routine treatment for all types of pets, including cats, dogs, horses, farm animals, and exotic pets.

Our Veterinary Technicians play an essential role in our success by supporting doctors in the hospital, caring for patients, and interacting closely with clients in regards to patient care. Our ideal candidate must have previous experience as a Veterinary Technician and be proficient in various aspects of surgical care, including the preparation, induction and monitoring of anesthesia.

This is a full time position, 8:00AM-4:00PM Monday-Friday. In order to best serve our clients and their pets, some rotating on-call shifts and select holidays are required.


Responsibilities:

  • Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, covering induction, monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery
  • Ability to perform various treatments on an in-house and outpatient basis including but not limited to placing feeding tubes, intravenous catheter placement and more
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medication and disease processes
  • Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous medications
  • Position and capture digital radiographs
  • Computer skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication with both clients and team members
  • Attention to detail and calm demeanor
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Low stress handling of patients

Qualifications:

  • Previous veterinary technician experience required
  • Previous experience with anesthesia, surgery and emergency medicine required
  • CVT or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during times of high tension
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
