AltaStaff is a staffing agency currently looking for Social Workers to complete IDD CAS Assessments in several areas throughout New York State

Job Summary

  • Schedule and coordinate the assessment process with individuals, families and providers in the home and/or community
  • Contact the individual and/or family/caregiver to schedule the appointment at a time and location most convenient to that person. This will include nights and weekends at the person’s request
  • Identify if the individual is capable of participating in an interview (full or partial) and if there is a need for an observation. More than one visit may be required
  • Utilize a person-centered interview process (e.g. conversational style that starts with the person)
  • Conduct the interview/observation in person. Assessment cannot be complete without the person being interviewed or observed
  • Arrange formal interpreter services as needed
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the assigned region (when time permits)


Required Experience/Licensure

  • Minimum of one year post-educational experience working with adult individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
  • A completed Bachelor’s degree in a human services field
  • Must meet in-field geographic coverage expectations
  • Must be open to the schedule including occasional evening and weekend shifts
  • Valid NYS Driver's license or State ID must be presented on first day of training


Required Skills

Strong analytical skills; detail and solution oriented; ability to work independently; excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills; and ability to use spreadsheet or database software; Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, the ability use the following on a daily basis: Web-based applications, Email, Microsoft Word.
