DRIVER CLASS A

The Class A Driver is responsible for the timely collection and delivery of donations for Goodwill retail and environmental business operations according to pre-determined routes while providing great customer service. He/She is also responsible for compliance of all state DOT requirements.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Load, unload and transport goods to designated locations using safe practices and procedures
  • Adhere to all state mandated DOT regulations
  • Ensure pleasant donation experience for the donor when participating in donation drives
  • Provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers
  • Drives tractor-trailer combination vehicles and bobtail trucks with lift gates
  • Perform all trash routes for all three county locations


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Adhere to all safety standards and inform management of safety, environmental and mechanical concerns
  • Manage all loads utilizing chains or other equipment as required for delivery.
  • Come to work neat and clean in appearance and wear GW issued uniform in a professional manner
  • Follow assigned routes according to schedule
  • Complete all needed paperwork related to inventory and invoicing
  • Develop and maintain contact with transportation management and work on all shifts.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, docks and retail staff and assist to unload and load all goods and materials
  • Ability to Drive and Operate End Dump and Roll Off Truck, tractor trailer combination and bobtail trucks with life gates
  • Maintain records of all truck delivery
  • Prepare and maintain all driving logs
  • Report all accidents and traffic violations
  • Operate vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
  • Complete and perform and record pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and other required paperwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Wear Goodwill issued uniform in a professional manner
  • Participate in mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:?


  • CA Class A Driver License with clean record
  • CA DMV record that is no more than 30 days old
  • Department of Transportation medical card.
  • Must be able to read maps and communicate using GW issued radio or phone equipment
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT drug test as a condition of employment.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse customer base.
  • Available to work weekends and early mornings.
  • Must be able to lift 50-65 pounds.
  • Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than ones own, able to work effectively with all.

Donating and shopping at Goodwill is good for our planet and the local environment and helps Goodwill SF Bay divert >35 million of pounds from local landfills every year.
