Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary: The Maintenance Superintendent will oversee maintenance workflow processes and all maintenance functions onsite for the plant, including electrical and mechanical systems; the installation, maintenance, and repair of fixed and rotating production equipment, the physical plant, utilities, and the grounds in and around the site.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Champion all maintenance efforts, manage the team of maintenance technicians and direct their efforts, oversee maintenance planner functions, and consistently maintain protection of the environment, health, and safety of all employees, contractors, visitors at the plant. 
  • Manage work schedules to ensure coverage, approve time off requests and timesheets for the maintenance department.
  • Assess and designate work assignments for maintenance install and repair, electrical, and mechanical related tasks and functions.
  • Work closely with management to monitor employees, make recommendations to elevate the quality of maintenance work performed, and continuously promote safety onsite and throughout the organization. 
  • Provide oversight of maintenance planning activities related to mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance and provide effective support to plant operations.
  • Responsible for the overall mechanical reliability of the plant, including fixed and rotating equipment, the buildings onsite, and the grounds.
  • Identify, reduce, and eliminate production losses and excessive maintenance costs to support and promote plant objectives related to environmental, health and safety, asset capability, quality, and production goals.
  • Develop best practices to establish and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs that promote uninterrupted 24/7 continuous service, mitigate risk, and resolve complex maintenance  issues.
  • Maintain plant performance KPI’s for the asset.
  • Conduct root cause and failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to mitigate risk, ensure safety for the organization.
  • Work closely with Operations to effectively oversee and evaluate maintenance budget and pricing for replacement parts and labor.
  • Manage communication with vendors and contractors to clarify the scope of work, obtain quotes for materials and maintenance related services for the plant.
  • Champion the mechanical integrity and quality assurance programs for the chemical plant.
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
  • Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
What We Require:
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to manage a team of employees with different skill sets and levels of plant maintenance expertise.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations related to PSM plant operations and maintenance required to operate the asset 24/7. 
  • Ability to understand and operate systems and equipment used onsite at chemical manufacturing plant; perform and analyze various system checks as needed. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams. 
  • Ability to read/interpret technical and electrical drawings, schematics, equipment drawings, and safety procedures, including federal and state OSHA guidelines. 
  • Ability to demonstrate and enforce safety best practices for the hand tools and power tools commonly used in maintenance work. 
  • Must have a strong understanding of the properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment used onsite at a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently, along with the confidence to lead and direct a team.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent supervisory maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ten years of plant maintenance experience in a supervisory role that combined technical, managerial, and financial expertise for plant maintenance and repair.
  • Experience creating maintenance plans, scheduling and coordinating preventative maintenance and repair work, and new chemical plant equipment installations. 
  • Maintenance experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities highly preferred.
