Senior Penetration Tester

**Location**: Washington, DC (Remote with potential onsite requirements)

**Reports To**: Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

**Contract Type**: Labor-Hour


**Position Summary**:

The Senior Penetration Tester will be responsible for conducting regular and ad-hoc penetration testing of the HBX's systems to ensure the security controls are effective and compliant. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in penetration testing methodologies, with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails applications and cloud environments.


**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Penetration Testing**:

- Conduct penetration testing on HBX's systems, focusing on identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in web applications and cloud environments.

- Use industry-standard penetration testing tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Wireshark, Nessus, and OpenVAS.


- **Security Assessment**:

- Evaluate network protocols, web application security, and API security for potential vulnerabilities.

- Provide detailed reports on findings and collaborate with development and IT teams to implement remediation strategies.


- **Advanced Exploitation**:

- Use advanced exploitation techniques and post-exploitation methodologies to assess the security posture of HBX's infrastructure.

- Stay updated on the latest penetration testing tools and techniques, ensuring HBX's security practices remain cutting-edge.


**Required Qualifications**:

- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Ruby, Perl, C, C++) and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript).

- Expertise in cloud environments, particularly AWS, and experience with cloud security tools.

- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP/S, FTP, SMTP).


- **Experience**:

- Proven experience in penetration testing, with a focus on cloud security and web application security.

- Familiarity with the Ruby on Rails framework and its security challenges.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
