Overview: A healthcare facility is seeking a Registrar to join its team. The Registrar will be responsible for managing the business aspects of the department while ensuring a high level of patient-focused care. This role includes tasks such as registration, insurance verification, updating financial and demographic information, and providing support in various patient-facing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction: Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment.
- Telephone Management: Answer telephones promptly and courteously, directing calls to appropriate personnel or departments, and taking and delivering messages.
- Information Distribution: Collect and distribute patient referral information from affiliated physicians and ensure departmental reading materials are readily available.
- Patient Escorting: Escort visitors and patients to appropriate areas and provide necessary information to assist them.
- Registration: Update or enter patient demographic, financial information, and emergency contact data into the computer system.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient demographic information and insurance coverage through patient interviews.
- Chart Management: Generate patient charts, attach pertinent information, review discharged patient charts, and ensure all required documentation is completed.
- Specimen Processing: Process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, form completion, and adherence to identification protocols.
- Record Management: File and retrieve patient charts and old records, maintain patient recall files, and log patients into the appropriate registration systems.
- Consent and Appointments: Obtain patient signatures for consent and assist in scheduling clinic appointments.
- General Support: Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment, transport patients when necessary, and assist with interpreting as required by current protocols.
Required Skills:
- Experience: 6-9 months of healthcare experience preferred to become familiar with institutional policies and procedures.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients and department members.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills and knowledge of keyboard usage.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to set priorities, problem-solve, use proper judgment in difficult situations, and remain flexible.
- Language Proficiency: Proficient in English (Speak, Read, Write).
