We are searching for an experienced Montessori teacher to join our growing school. Your duties and responsibilities will include creative, stimulating learning environments for children of all ages and lesson plans that develop emotional, social, and intellectual skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys and embraces alternative learning as well as understands the importance of nurturing and guiding children.

About us
Kids World is abilingual Montessori program where children 15 month to 6 years of age develop a love of learning.
At Kids World, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing, stimulating, and welcoming environment for all children. Our unique program follows Dr. Maria Montessori's learning method for children By always keeping the child's best interest in mind, our beautiful environment allows for hands-on, experiential learning. In this climate, children love to learn.

Starting for the new school year, the training/set up period will be in November 2024, and the school year will be in January 2025 to June 2025.
Monday- Friday from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm

Duties

  • Prepares, and maintains a beautiful environment, on a daily basis that meets the needs of all students;
  • Initiates and facilitates ongoing dialogue with parents on the overall development of each child;
  • Demonstrates competency to deliver an educational program based on the individual;
  • For the Kindergarten, demonstrates competency to provide effective, innovative instruction with a balance of Montessori materials integrated with the Virginia State Standards
  • Oversees the learning of all children in the classroom while partnering with the assistant in supporting the needs of all students;
  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy/competency
  • Conducts the class: plans, develops, records and implements class curriculum; makes materials when needed, maintains classroom materials and keeps shelves clean and orderly
  • Keeps accurate daily, weekly, and monthly lesson plans which describe lessons given, curriculum covered and observation notes for each child and turns them in as directed
  • Continues to get to know each child’s learning style(s) and interests to increase all eight constructs (emotional, social, ethical, aesthetic, creative, wellness, intellectual and “school success”); and
  • Participates in staff meetings and collaborates with primary team and school member


Requirements

Montessori teacher requirements:
  • +3 years of experience in (3-6 classroom settings)
  • Must be able to speak and communicate in English
  • Speak and communicate in Spanish (preferably but not necessary)
  • Completed training at a Montessori accredited center (AMS or AMI)
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood teaching or a similar area of study
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • One-year in-person internship at Montessori school
  • Understanding of the program and passion for alternative education
  • Ability to teach a large group of children of different ages
  • Being a role model to children and colleagues
  • Ability to multitask and organize learning programs
