Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Register patients into the computer system with accurate demographic and insurance information, including scanning of requisitions into the appropriate medical record
  • Verify insurance information using appropriate resources, ie: online insurance websites, programs linked to the health system computer
  • Order and receiving orders placed, both electronically and manually , in the health system and Laboratory information systems (HIS and LIS)
  • Ability to work with multiple types and forms of computer systems and programs
  • Knowledge of laboratory tests, proper specimen containers, specimens and paperwork requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure in a composed, efficient manner with members of the team in a professional and courteous manner
  • Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of six months office experience desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in medical terminology, procedures, diagnosis, health insurance, customer service and computer programs desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (ie: use of computer keyboard). May require use of lifting and carrying light loads (up to 10 pounds). Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite] at CMC Main Campus Laboratory
  • Evening shifts

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • $18 to $20 per hour
