Environmental Technician

What you will do:

  • Interface directly with multiple support groups and department leads to build and maintain existing relationships.
  • Technical accuracy and completeness in your field to ensure current and relevant technical quality with industry requirements and updates.
  • Display a strong work ethic, good decision-making skills, dependability, willingness to accept responsibility, and strong attention to detail.
  • Perform multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be proactive with strong initiative and follow through, detail oriented, and capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

Position Requirements and Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Bachelor's degree in area of sciences (geology, environmental science, biology, etc.)
  • Sampling of all types of media including, but not limited to, air, ground water, soil metal, coupons, oil, and potentially hazardous materials of process equipment.
  • Calibration of equipment, prepare supplies, review documentation.
  • Maintain and ensure accurate Inventory of bottles, chemicals, and other supplies.
  • Prepare sampling kits.
  • Client communication in relations to sampling, daily objectives.
  • Compliance and Materials and Testing Equipment (M&TE) program, as required by customer.
  • Data Entry & recordkeeping
  • Groundwater sampling/measurements
  • General Housekeeping
  • Packing and shipping samplers thoroughly and in accordance with site procedures.
  • Assisting with and completing schedule of deploying equipment and any necessary testing.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and testing equipment.
  • Download of pressure transducer data.
  • Laboratory compliance, maintenance, shipping/receiving of samples - both regulated and non-regulated shipments.
  • Project planning and coordination with customers and ensure work packages comply with on-site sampling and field procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by customer and GEO management.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Tasks may require the technician to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) most of each workday.
  • Ability to perform sedentary to moderate work, performing such activities as lifting 50 lbs. or more, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
  • Meet GEO and site-specific fit for duty physical requirements, as well as obtain any additional regulatory medical clearances (i.e. DOT, HAZWOPER) as required to support GEO projects.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain security clearance (as required).

Supervisor Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervision of technical or field staff.

Position Type/Excepted Hours of Work/Travel Requirements:

  • This position is a full-time, non-exempt role.
  • Overtime will be required based on project needs and client schedules.
  • Travel related to field work.
