Primary Function
As a Machine/Hand Riveter at Circle Y Saddles, you will be responsible for the precise and efficient riveting of key structural components in our saddle-making process. Your work will directly impact the durability, safety, and overall quality of our saddles. You’ll work closely with our production team to ensure that every rivet meets our high standards and contributes to the excellence of our products. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while producing high-quality leather goods.
Position Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Operate and maintain machine and hand riveting tools to attach rivets to saddle components accurately.
- Assist in the assembly of various leather components.
- Learn and follow assembly instructions and specifications provided by supervisors, ensuring accuracy and consistency in each task.
- Perform basic leatherworking tasks, such as cutting, stitching, and gluing, to prepare components for assembly.
- Support quality control efforts by inspecting rivet placement, and inspecting leather components for defects and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members to complete assembly tasks efficiently and meet production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools, materials, and finished products.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Proficiency in operating riveting machines and hand tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new tasks quickly.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of leatherworking techniques and tools is a plus but not required.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a machine or hand riveter, preferably in a manufacturing or saddle-making environment. (ideal)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in craftsmanship, leatherworking, or related fields is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and move around for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand strength for handling tools and materials.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a production environment with exposure to various materials, oils, and chemicals.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with production targets and deadlines.
- Exposure to various leatherworking tools, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborative team environment with opportunities for learning and growth.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional training or certification in saddle making or related field preferred.
