Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPart-time Position Overview:
The Durable Medical Equipment Tech performs a variety of tasks including the application of pre-fabricated and custom orthotic devices.
Position Requirements:
- Basic computer skills
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Prior orthopaedic or rehab experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
- Must be able to complete tasks with a high-degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
- Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
- Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately
- May need to travel to satellite locations for delivery/retrieval of DME items
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply prefabricated and custom orthotic devices ordered by physicians
- Educate patients about donning, doffing, the use and maintenance of devices
- Communicate with physician teams and multidisciplinary staff
- Document patient encounters in detail
- Maintain and order DME supply inventory
- Deliver compassionate care to patients and manage protected health information
- Other duties include but are not limited to the following: policy compliance, record keeping, scheduling, and validating patient eligibility for equipment
- Retrieval of patients from clinical area to apply DME
