We are currently seeking an experienced Aesthetics and Beauty Editor to join the team The Editorial Lead oversees Modern Aesthetics in conjunction with the Editorial Director while ensuring the quality of content.

What a day in the life of an Editorial Lead looks like:

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee Modern Aesthetics in conjunction with the Editorial Director
  • Post and write daily news to Modern Aesthetics website
  • Attend conferences (live and virtual) to obtain content from presentations and posters
  • Set up meetings with KOLs as necessary to gain quotes and ideas for future stories/hot topics
  • Cover general dermatology topics as needed/directed for sister publication, Practical Dermatology
  • Develop content for social media posts for publication articles and posts from conferences
  • Work in conjunction with medical editor on Practical Dermatology to provide general dermatology coverage
  • Storyboard Modern Aesthetics TV & Podcasts
  • Be on camera for both DermWire TV and Modern Aesthetics TV (negotiable)
  • Write supplements and develop content for advertising supported programs
  • Act as second read of content for Modern Aesthetics and Practical Dermatology as needed
  • Act as main point of contact for press releases. If in tri-state area, attend press conferences and gather content to be published with Modern Aesthetics and Practical Dermatology
  • Develop YoungMD Connect content based on program
  • Develop content from Modern Aesthetics’ Tell All Tribune meeting in April
  • Guides, mentors, and reviews junior staff in day-to-day activity
  • Contributes to overall process improvement initiatives
  • Complies with the U.S. Copyright Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

What we expect from qualified candidates:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, journalism, communications, or related field
  • 7 or more years of substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading, requiring little or no supervision
  • Excellent composition and writing skills
  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar and syntax
  • Detailed knowledge of AMA style
  • Comfortable leading discussions with authors and industry members
  • Thorough knowledge of publishing (all platforms)
  • Ability to establish and oversee deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, InDesign (or other typesetting program), and web publishing platforms
  • Knowledge of the aesthetics fields preferred
