JOB SUMMARY


This position manages the production supervisor team and Packroom to achieve production goals. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling production to ensure that products are produced efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining quality and safety standards. Will bring an overall understanding of how production intersects with key departments (customer service, human resources, payroll, and engineering).


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Facilitates daily meetings.
  2. Collaborates with human resources on performance management and employee relations.
  3. Conducts weekly payroll review and approval, overseeing time off and absences.
  4. Creates and manages production supervisor schedules.
  5. Supervises production through the production supervisor team, preparing and presenting production reports in meetings and to the Director of Operations.
  6. Manages the production supervisor team effectively.
  7. Oversees and maintains quality standards.
  8. Analyze production and quality data to identify and resolve issues.
  9. Adjusts staffing schedules as necessary and serves as a backup to production supervisors when needed.
  10. Ensures a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on control points, equipment, and resources in compliance with policies and procedures.
  11. Collaborates with Safety vendors to uphold the company's safety program.
  12. Partners with customer service to address customer needs promptly.
  13. Handles plant supplies, ensuring adequate inventory.
  14. Actively participates in Lean events and drives Lean improvements. Ensures production supervisors implement Lean initiatives effectively.
  15. Engages with union representatives, including stewards, to manage employee issues by the collective bargaining agreement, maintaining positive relations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Directly manages the production team and is responsible for selection, training, performance review, coaching, disciplinary action, and termination of employment.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma
  • Five years of experience in a production environment
  • 3+ years of experience managing or supervising others
  • Understanding or experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Experience in a unionized environment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Basic Technology (Computer Software: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...)
  • Read/Write/Speak English
